Background Information

This is a spin-off of Colin-Deleger, where Michel Colin divided most of his vineyard holdings between his two sons, Bruno and Philippe.

In vintage 2004: Bruno states that he follows most of his father's techniques except that “he may stir the the lees a bit longer in the spring.” [Ed Note by Don Cornwell–Colin-Deleger was already one of the estates with major problems in terms of premature oxidation and anecdotally was a relatively low S02 user as well as one of the longest lees stirrers in vintage 2000. So this statement is anything but a good sign in my view.]
In vintage 2005: M/L's completed in January-February, but stirred the lees until early May; free SO2 level increased to 40 ppm beginning this vintage
In vintage 2010: Currently bottling at 35 pmm free SO2.

Chassagne-Montrachet la Maltroie (November 2013) - Had this from magnum at a friends. Very nice wine. Not at all oxidized. Fairly young color for a 2004 (Howard Cooper)

Puligny-Montrachet La Truffieres (1st bottle 12/2009, 2nd bottle 01/2011): Purchased from reputable retailer in Vancouver. Both oxidised, 2nd undrinkable. [Peter Skarsgard]

Puligny–Montrachet “La Truffière” (Jun. – Aug. 2019): 1 btl not oxidized + 1 btl oxidized. 14% ABV (!). The good bottle was yellow gold in color. Very lovely, but richer & fatter than in other vintages. A firm mineral backbone, however, keeps the richness in check on the palate. In this vintage, the style of this wine reminds me of his father Michel's PM “Les Demoiselles”. From a lot of 2 purchased in Jan. 2018 from the auction platform of a reputable West Coast retailer. Chassange-Montrachet Les Vergers (April 2015): Case from reputable retailer and stored in walk-in cellar at 55-57o since purchased. First bottle was fully oxidized and undrinkable. Second bottle shows advanced oxidation but still drinkable.

Chassagne–Montrachet “Les Vergers” (Sep. 2017 – Nov. 2019): 12 btls not oxidized. Lovely nose of delicate orchard fruits complicated by earthy minerality. Chassagne–Montrachet “Blanchot Dessus” (Nov. 2017 – Jul. 2020): 6 btls not oxidized. Delicate perfume of white flowers. Leaner & less developed on the palate than the Les Vergers. No rush to drink. Puligny–Montrachet “La Truffière” (Apr. 2018 – Jul. 2020): 6 btls not oxidized. Orange flower & a touch of flint in the nose. Youthful on the palate like the Blanchot Dessus, but richer & more complex. No rush to drink. Best served decanted. Chassagne–Montrachet “Les Vergers” (Jul. 2020 – Oct. 2021): 5 btls not oxidized + 1 advanced. The good btls have a youthful color of pale gold. A contest between exotic, ripe orchard fruits, citrus blossom, & mineralité in the nose & on the palate. Richly textured & delicious. Decanting recommended. Puligny–Montrachet “La Truffière” (Oct. 2020 – Mar. 2022): 6 btls not oxidized. Youthful color of pale yellow. Earlier btls needed decanting. Notes of citrus blossom & citrus peel emerge after some coaxing. Youthful flavors of green fruits laced with mineralité as the wine opens up in the glass. Chassagne–Montrachet “Les Vergers” (Apr. 2021 – Apr. 2023): 6 btls not oxidized. The first btl appeared to be somewhat darker in color than the other 5, but was perfectly fine & served decanted. Classic Bruno style of Les Vergers, very mineral & taut, with just a little muskiness in the nose. Decanting definitely helps. Puligny–Montrachet “La Truffière” (Jun. 2022 – ): 6 btls not oxidized. Very refined nose of orange blossom & white flowers. Muskiness quite pronounced in some btls.
