Background information

During a visit on 18 Nov 2005, Thierry Brouin explained he was well aware of the problem but that no solution had been found so far except drinking the wines younger (!) – which makes sense but is not necessarily what we want to hear!

Wines

  • Puligny Clos du Caillerets (April 2006) : not oxidised, mature, quite rich and forward, a bit too much oak (JE Simond)
  • Puligny Clos du Caillerets (Aug-Oct 2007): four bottles tasted, three not oxidized, showing minerality but a bit lacking in mid-palate depth, and the most recent showing partial oxidation (slight) [Don Cornwell]
  • Puligny Clos du Caillerets (2 Aug 2008): partially oxidized [Don Cornwell]
  • Puligny Clos du Caillerets (27 May 2009): another partially oxidized bottle [Don Cornwell]
  • Puligny Clos du Caillerets (Jan 2006): no sign of oxidation, still very youthful [Paul Dellar]
  • Puligny Clos du Caillerets (18 Jun 2007): not oxidized; quite good. See notes of 2000 tasting. [Don Cornwell]
  • Puligny Clos du Caillerets (July 2007): no oxidation [Paul Dellar].
  • Puligny Clos du Caillerets (May 2008): no oxidation, indeed lovely, this has come together really well now [Paul Dellar].
  • Puligny Clos du Caillerets (Aug 2008): this bottle certainly on the way, still drinkable but with significant evolution, particularly on the nose. [Paul Dellar].
  • Puligny Clos du Caillerets (Oct 2008): this one completely shot, oxidised. [Paul Dellar].
  • Puligny Clos du Caillerets (Nov 2008): this bottle (my last) was pristine. [Paul Dellar].
  • Puligny Clos du Caillerets (Dec 2008 and July 2009): Two bottles from the same source. The first was excellent, not oxidized. The second could have passed for diluted sherry. [David Honig].
  • Puligny Clos du Caillerets (Dec 2008-Jan 2009): two bottles, not oxidized [Don Cornwell]
  • Puligny Clos du Caillerets (Nov 2005): not oxidised, but flabby [Pep]

  • Puligny Clos du Caillerets (Jan 28, 2009): oxidized [Don Cornwell]
  • Puligny Folatieres (Jun 2007): no oxidation, a bit forward but holding up [MLee]
  • Puligny Folatieres (Sept 2009): no oxidation, very young, needs time to come together [Paul Dellar]
